with it comes the little prepubescent moths.....the pollen.....
the lilacs....
and the muscari. a little bit about this muscari: it was planted by the original owners of this house many, many years ago. they had no children, but the woman was known in the neighborhood for her prolific, creative gardens. not much remains of her once beautiful secret garden except for this muscari and the occasional lily of the valley which pop up in the yard each spring. a few aprils ago when we "refreshed" the lawn, I made sure to carefully dig these perennials up from the front yard and plant them in a raised bed, in the backyard, away from the threats of the mower blades. i'm so happy they're flourishing and enjoying their new home. i hope to keep them alive for as long as i'm around.
