... you've heard the term ....

... get the lead out, right? well, on the off chance that you have not heard this saying, to paraphrase some uber credible online resource, "... this expression implies that lead, the heaviest of the base metals, is preventing one from moving...."

examine the pic below. specifically, look at the roof. i'd like to confirm the arrows are pointing to paper bags. lunch-size bags to be exact.

they're on the roof because they're supposed to help to ...

... get the snow off!

the deal is, according to a recent news cast, that guy from 'This Old House' says that if you live in an area where there's snow on your roof, fill the paper bags with salt. once filled, you're supposed to throw them on the roof. then, over a period of time, the water from the snow will deteriorate the bag and release the salt on to the roof. this release of salt will then aide in melting the snow/ice built up from the inclement weather.

i, personally, am suspect of the overall impact of the bags. there's still snow and ice. but, i'm stoked that we're gonna make it through this winter with paper bags on the roof.
