... the club ...

of which I am not a part is the mommy's club. you know the play-group gang. the 'come and get your goldfish snack pack - - please' posse.

people inquire frequently, 'do you have kids?'

'no. no i don't.' i reply.

'oh.'

[silence]

[crickets going off in the background]

[eyes following the proverbial bouncing ball of vacancy]

yup - that pretty much sums up any current or future interactions i may have (or possibly have wanted to have) with the person.

okay, so that's the way it's going to be. i'm just not going to be part of the club, and i'm way okay with that. the part that gets me:

i walk in the room to see the 6pm news on the TV. The topic: mommy bloggers. Moms at home making money talking about being moms. can we give this a rest already?

props to the moms i know and respect in this world. my life is damn sure full of 'em and i love those women more than ever. but for the love of god, can we (aka the group of people who choose not to have children) get a respite for just a while. it's getting to be like that dog training technique where people rub the dogs nose in the pee to advise them that it's not a good idea to do that in the house.

i'd like to get my nose out of the pee and get the hell outside so i can do my business - sans children.
